🌡️ Heating, cooling & hot water
How often should you clean or replace your AC filters?
Clean reusable AC filters every 1–2 months during the cooling season, and replace disposable ones every 1–3 months.
Why it matters
A clogged filter restricts airflow, so the unit cools worse, uses more electricity and can freeze up. It also circulates the dust and allergens it should be catching.
How to do it
- Switch the unit off, open the front panel and slide the filters out.
- Vacuum off the loose dust, then wash reusable filters in lukewarm water with a little mild soap.
- Let them dry completely in the shade before refitting; a damp filter grows mould.
- Replace disposable filters when they look grey and clogged, not on a fixed date only.
- Check more often if you have pets, smokers or building work nearby.
